Vidanga is the seeds and fruit of the plant, it is a potent herb with antibacterial and antifungal properties. Vidanga is the number one herb used for treating parasites in Ayurveda. The herb is hot in temperature, promoting digestion to expel toxins from the large intestine. Kalmegh is known as the ‘King of Bitters.’ Bitter herbs have been an ancient remedy for treating parasites. Kalmegh also works as an immunostimulant, liver cleanser and stimulates bile secretion for digestion. Neem is commonly used for treating pests in house plants or infused into oil for skin infections. Neem has antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The beauty of neem is it is selective in what type of bacteria it destroys, helping to balance gut flora. Haritaki is a fruit with antiparasitic properties, beneficial for protozoa infections and has a mild laxative effect. Clove contains a compound eugenol that is very powerful at treating parasites, especially the eggs, often hidden behind biofilm walls. I have incorporated apple fiber into this formula to draw the parasites to the herbs and to help promote digestion, bulking excreted toxins and stool together.

Black walnut hull and wormwood contain the compounds juglone and thujone which can be toxic to humans in high doses or with prolonged use. I created this formula to be safer than the standard Western holistic treatment. This way the herbs can be used in higher doses and for longer periods of time without posing any threat of natural plant toxins. This formula is made with both healing and cooling herbs to balance all dosha types.

Parasite cleanses are not a once and done thing. Parasites lay hundreds of thousands of eggs daily, often protected in cyst form and hidden behind biofilms. Treatment must be cycled, spacing out overtime to be done properly. I recommend using the herbs for one to weeks then taking a two-week break in between treatments. For chronic infections, I recommend cycling every two weeks then space out treatments to once a month, best during full moon periods.

When parasites die, they release toxins which can cause a Herxheimer reaction. If the person cannot pass them, the toxins can be reabsorbed back into the body triggering more inflammation.
